Supporting Matt and Will in an amazing charity project.

Matt and Will’s Great Bike Adventure

Matt Green and Will Townrow will be cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End between the 21st and the 30th of August 2008 to raise money for two important charities.

Will is cycling to raise money for The Royal Marsden, with the funds going to help finance research into brain tumours.

Matt is raising money to buy vital equipment for the Neonatal Unit at St George’s Hospital in Tooting which cares for sick and premature babies (Friends of the Neonatal Unit).

The first recorded ‘end to end’ journey was by a Cornishman called Robert Carlyle who pushed a wheelbarrow from Land’s End to John O’Groats in 1879. The fastest ever cycle trip was completed by Gethin Butler in 2001 in one day and 20 hours.  And Stephen Gough, The Naked Rambler, has walked the ‘end to end’ twice, resulting in several jail terms.

You’ll be relieved to know that Will and Matt will be doing it fully clothed and expect to complete the 956 mile trip in ten days (averaging an impressive 96 miles a day).
